Our Family Story
From our grandmother’s kitchen in Zacatecas to our family table in Aguascalientes, food has always been our bond. Every trip to visit loved ones filled us with new flavors, traditions, and memories.
La Catrina is the heart of that journey: a taste of the Bajío, where each dish carries our roots, our family’s warmth, and the flavors of home.
Our Story
Our roots begin in Jerez, Zacatecas, where our abuelitas always welcomed us with a hot plate of albóndigas, menudo, pozole, or her unforgettable mole. On the table, there was never a shortage of tortillas hechas a mano, aguacate and queso fresco from la Hacienda de Cienega.
Though our family grew up in Aguascalientes, we often traveled to Zacatecas, Jalisco, and San Luis Potosí, where every visit meant tostadas jerezanas, birria, carne asada, and celebrations filled with mariachi and tamborazo jerezano.
La Catrina is born from those memories, a mixture of flavors from the Bajío region (central states), and a reflection of our hogar and raíces. More than a restaurant, it is our family’s way of sharing tradition, love, and resilience with the Hollister community.
